Eternal Remorse:

TW: SUICIDE

A short indie puzzle game surrounded by mystery.

The game is about a mysterious man who is looking for something in an old house. We don't know exactly his intentions, but along the way we find out the story, his past and what he was doing there.

Submission for the Pixel Game Jam 2023 with the theme of "Mystery".

The game looks cool! Moody little pixel art, the song is nice too, it doesn't get too on the nerves. There is a lack of contrast, colors, background and UI elements just melt together, especially the arrows, but its fine otherwise.

But Im just stuck. I did the book puzzle, I got the key, I did the slidey puzzle

(If this counts as "solved", I dont know)

I got the matches and the axe, but I just don't know what to do next. I cannot go out to chop some wood to the fireplace, fireplace cannot be lit. The only locked drawer cannot be opened by the key. The aforementioned puzzle apparently not solved or I dont know. I cannot chop down the barricaded door with the axe either.

Im definitely doing something wrong here, but for me, its just not obvious what. Which, for a puzzle game, its a good thing, but being left without any other seeming option, or just simply without a clue is frustrating.

Apart from me being stuck, I really miss reading random crap. I love point and click games because you can click on a whole bunch of random stuff and the character just blurbs out the most meaningless things. "A broom. Mankind's greatest cleaning device" or something. I just love that stuff!

The hint for the book puzzle within the portrait picture is a nice touch too.

Thank you very much for the honest and detailed opinion. About fire, just think more about how you could light it. Someone else said it got stuck there as well. If you need a hint, just think that you are in a house with an axe and you need wood.

im still confused

nvm i got it
